Volunteer opportunities
At dc, we enjoy loving our city and community. In fact, we love it so much that after only a year, the local Dallas Chamber of Commerce awarded us with the prestigious 'Outstanding Organization' award - the first time this award was given to a local church! We're proud of the fact that we can be used by God to love the people of Dallas and are always looking for more ways to help.
Here are a few places you can jump in:
Adopt-A-Family & Christmas Cheer - this yearly project falls during the Thanksgiving & Christmas holidays and provides great volunteer opportunities to donate, sort, & deliver help in both food and gifts to struggling families in the community.
WinterFest - this event in downtown Dallas has allowed us to give smiles and hot chocolate to thousands of people. Its held early in December each year right at the historic Polk County Courthouse lawn.
Easter at the Dallas Retirement Village - each year we partner with our local retirement community to provide a full Easter celebration for the residents, their families, and the staff of the DRV. We have also helped with other events at the DRV. The need is always great for people to come visit and love on the residents.
Stamp-Out Hunger - this is a great way to spend a Saturday helping our local food bank with the Dallas Postal Carriers annual drive. We arrive early on Saturday and pickup bags of food on the different carrier routes and then return to help the Dallas Food Bank sort and transport the food. Each year we grab tons of food and have a lot of fun in the process!
SummerFest - we love to put an entry into the Saturday parade (one of Oregon's largest!) and have served in other areas like providing space for other nonprofits and providing entertainment with our church's musicians, etc.
Winema - a camp for students that happens in the summer months. Lots of ways to jump in and help run one of the youth camps that allows kids to find and follow Jesus! Check out Winema's website HERE.
dc Events
Our church has also done special events to help reach new famliies like Family Movie Nights, Free Bingo Nights, and even Free Sports Camps, Live Band & Dance events, Trick 'r Trunk Events and Christmas Events. If you've got great ideas on new ways to reach out to our ctiy with Jesus' love, let us KNOW!

James 2 Community Kitchen - sign up to help serve or cook meals to the elderly and struggling families here in our community. This happens on Tuesday nights currently at St Philips Catholic Church in Dallas. Click HERE.
Salvation Army Bell Ringing - this is an easy way to help keep donations raised at those red kettles in our community STAY in our community! Volunteers help keep overhead low and more funding available to those who seek assistance at local help agencies like the Dallas Resource Center and the Dallas Food Bank.
